Posted On: 2006-09-10   My Lappy Went Bust
At last, at last, at last I'm able to get some free time to post some new goodies! Busy was (is), my middle name lately......along with my last name of "La-Really-Busy". Ya, that was kinda cheesy. Sorry folks, I just got up, it's 7:40 AM and I'm waiting for my pot of coffee to brew. I get all weirded out if I don't have my morning shots. Anyhow, I just barely got up, washed my face, fixed my hair so it looks somewhat decent, gathered my laundry for washing....and some quarters for the machines, and checked my emails. This is my typical Sunday morning, for the most part that is.

So what's on the schedule for today? Well, I got a freelance client to meet up with today at about 10 AM; job is worth about $500 for the first leg and $1800 or so for the second half of it. After that, I'll have to make a mad dash to Merced to my newly established business since I've got another meeting but for a possible purchase of a booth for an upcoming concert there in Merced. Gotta see what's involved, the cost and how much we might expect to profit from it. So, suffice it to say, my day is pretty tied up. Not much of a labor day weekend for me, but oh well. Such is life I suppose.

God!! I can't believe it! I freakin' dropped the love of my life......; my Sager Laptop! One day, I was getting out of the car, went around to the passenger side, swung out my laptop bag while thinking that it was zipped up......and then whooooosh! There goes my freakin' $3500 laptop through the air like the greatest of trapeze, crashing into the side of the curb, skidding a few feet and resting upside-down in a puddle of dirty water! And everything seemed to happen in slow motion and my eyes followed the whole process while I was screaming in an even slower-motion, "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"!!!!!!

I could swear my heart sank, skipped a few beats, lost a few brain cells and shed a few tears in the process. I ran over to it, knelt, picked it up, cradled it and maybe even began hugging it and gently rocking it while sobbing my eyes out as the tears sprayed out to the sides with my head up in the air like the Yahoo Emoticon!! And I'm almost positive people were walking by thinking I was another poor soul in need of serious help or even God. Well, what was the damage? To be honest, not much really but "damaging" nevertheless. My CD/DVD R/RW Comb Drive doesn't work anymore; every time I put a disk in, it makes a really funny sound as if a gear is jammed or something, and then it'll spin but never stop. Then my battery latch is busted so now I gotta use tape to hold it in place. My LCD lid is kinda jiggly and has few deep gashes on the outer side. One of the lid latches is busted so it doesn't close properly and I think 1 of the 6 built-in speakers is shot. Such is the life of my beautiful, sexy, monster of a laptop.

Well, to be honest, I've been meaning to upgrade anyhow since it's already nearing 2 years since I've bought it. Although, it's still more powerful than most of the laptops on the market. I'd really love to find one that will offer at least up to 4 Gigs of RAM, dual processors and at least a 512MB graphics card. Now THAT is a beast of a laptop!! Wheeeeew!

Well, it's nearing 10 AM, so I better get going. Got a meeting with a client and cant miss that. Anyhow, one thing to note. Laptops are your babies. You gotta care for them, hug them and caress them. Give them love, and affection and........okay, okay, I'll shut up. Cheers folks! See ya on the next round but can't promise when it'll be! Sayonara!!
